Funded by Supporting People and a Housing Grant
CDAS runs a women’s refuge in Carmarthen. There are also two other refuges available in Carmarthenshire, as well as many in other areas.
- Refuge provides women and children with a safe place to stay, a breathing space where women can take stock of their situation.
- We provide refuge accommodation and support for five family units at any one time, whether they are mothers with children or single women, the refuge is there for you. There are workers on hand to support with a wide range of things such as re-housing, benefits, emotional support, referrals to other helping agencies etc.
- Refuge can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, either via the 24 hour All Wales Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Helpline (0808 80 10 800), Drop-In (01267 238410) or on our other 24 hour number 01267 234725.
- If it is not safe to stay in Carmarthen, we can find a place in one of the many other refuges in Wales or even elsewhere in the UK.
“ The refuge staff made my children and I feel welcome and safe, it was a very emotional time but we had the support to move forward , we had support to get a home and help with budgeting and safety planning. My children were able to talk to a child worker about their experiences and are now really happy and settled in new schools. I have gained confidence and attend a support group for survivors called WSSP where I have met new friends and learnt new skills.”
